Orientate sired his 20th career stakes winner on September 12, when Via Veneto sped to victory in the Bangles and Beads Stakes at Fairplex.
The dark bay miss stalked the pace from off the rail, angled out into the stretch, drew alongside the front-runner, and battled gamely to the wire. Heavily-favored by the crowd, she rewarded her backers with a 1 ½-length victory over 6 ½ furlongs on the main track. A 4-year-old filly out of the Smart Strike stakes mare Run Sarah Run, she was earning her first blacktype for owner/breeder Donald Dizney and trainer Bob Baffert. Via Veneto is a half-sister to the 3-year-old Classic colt First Dude, who has placed in five Grade 1 stakes this year, including the Preakness-G1 and Belmont-G1. First Dude has earned over $660,000 for Mr. Dizney.
Champion Orientate has now sired 13 stakes horses and earners of well over $3,700,000 in 2010, including ten juveniles winners and three juvenile stakes horses.
