Leading Freshman Sire Afleet Alex enjoyed more commercial success at the Keeneland September yearling sale, as on Monday – Day 7 of the sale – a colt selling as Hip No. 2209 topped the session after the hammer fell at $300,000.
Trainer Tim Ritchey and owner Chuck Zacney – the former connections who campaigned Eclipse Champion Afleet Alex during his illustrious racing career – acquired the young racing prospect, with Ritchey signing the ticket as agent for CJZ Stable.
The attractive bay colt hails from the Unbridled mare Catch the Moment, who is from the family of Epsom Derby winner Secreto.
Afleet Alex, sire of leading 2-year-old Dublin (G1), also had a $350,000 colt during Saturday’s session.
