Champion sire Tapit saw the emergence of another top 3-year-old when his son Tempted to Tapit romped to an 11 ½-length win in a $41,000 maiden special weight at Aqueduct on Jan. 18. The performance earned him a serious Beyer Speed Figure of 100.

Tempted to Tapit, a Gainesway Sales graduate, was never challenged in the two-turn one-mile race, extending his advantage in the stretch with a powerful run to the wire. He ran a mile in 1:37.88 over a local track that was sloppy. The breakthrough win comes off of back-to-back runner-up performances for the gray son of Tapit.

Tempted to Tapit was bred in Kentucky by Mike Sloan from the Editor’s Note mare Tempting Note and he is trained by Steve Klesaris. Gainesway Stable campaigns Tempted to Tapit, who moved his earnings to $43,340. Monday’s performance was strong enough that the promising 3-year-old could resurface on the Derby Trail in the near future.
