Champion and dual-Classic winner Afleet Alex enjoyed another impressive
maiden winner July 29th when his 2-year-old filly Remarkable Rocket
drew off to an eye-catching 3 ½-length win while being geared down at
the wire in her career debut in a $38,000 maiden special weight race at
Monmouth Park. The victory marked the second maiden special weight
winner for the freshman sire in as many days.
Making her first start going a mile, Remarkable Rocket broke well and
was always forwardly placed while tracking professionally along the
inside. Heading into the far turn, she forged her way to the lead and
asserted herself as the best horse in the stretch, drawing well clear
before being eased up late to hit the wire all alone. The final margin
of 3 ½ was a mercy margin, as Remarkable Rocket stopped the clock in a
canter in 1:41.09 over a fast local track.
Trained by Kelly Breen, the chestnut filly earned $22,800 for her debut
win for owners George and Lori Hall. Remarkable Rocket was bred in
Kentucky by Jess Jackson’s Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings LLC and
was a $95,000 Keeneland September yearling purchase by her current
owners. She is out of the graded stakes-winning Fortunate Prospect mare
Bold World and is a half to multiple stakes winner Bold Union.
Yesterday, Kratisto, a 2-year-old Afleet Alex colt, broke his maiden impressively in a maiden special weight at Delaware Park.
