A colt by Afleet Alex brought $250,000 at the July 10 Fasig-Tipton yearling sale, one of the top four prices at the central Kentucky auction. Afleet Alex is a lead fourth-crop sire of 2012 and is represented by nine stakes horses in 2012, including Bizzy Caroline, winner of the Early Times Mint Julep (G3T) at Churchill Downs on June 2.
Consigned by Baccari Bloodstock agent, as Hip No. 9, the bay colt was bought by trainer Mark Casse, agent.
"I liked him because he reminds me a lot of Uncaptured, a really good 2-year-old I have. He ran the fastest Beyer so far this year." Casse said. " I loved (the Afleet Alex colt). I'm trying to buy horses that go two turns and he looks like he will."
The Kentucky bred is the first foal out of the unraced Vindication mare Rhythm Gal. She is a half-sister to Sarava, winner of the Grade 1 Belmont S. The family also includes the likes of champion older mare Wilderness Song and champion Dance to Market.
