Graded stakes winner and Gainesway sales graduate Afleet Express is on track to run in the $500,000 Jim Dandy S. (G2) at historic Saratoga this weekend.
The 3-year-old colt from the first crop by Afleet Alex was last seen winning the Pegasus S. (G3) on June 19 by nearly two lengths in his stakes and two-turn debut. Afleet Express has won his last two races by 9 ½ combined lengths, at Monmouth and Belmont. He was bred in Kentucky by McMillan Brothers and James Devaney, and sold for $245,000 at the 2008 Keeneland January Sale. Racing for a partnership of Gainesway and Martin L. Cherry, the dark bay colt has 3 wins and a 2nd in 5 starts, for earnings of $185,140. Trainer Jimmy Jerkens will once again tighten the saddle this weekend.
Afleet Express is one of 10 Graded stakes winner this year consigned by Gainesway. Only one other consignor has sold more current Graded stakes winners.
