Leading second-crop sire Afleet Alex added to his 2010 record when Alex's Vision easily won the $75,000 Peppy Addy S. at Philadelphia Park on July 3. The 3-year-old colt was a 4 1/4-length winner, completing the seven furlongs in 1:22.41.
Alex's Vision became the sixth stakes winner and 40th winner overall this year for his sire, tops in both categories for second-crop sires. Afleet Alex's progeny have now earned over $2 million on the year.
Alex's Vision is bred, owned and trained by Tim Ritchey, who also trained Afleet Alex. The Peppy Addy was the first stakes win for the bay colt, who was third in the Danzig S. at Philadelphia Park on May 28. His lifetime record now stands at 2-0-2 from six starts, with earnings of $79,220.
Produced by the Citidancer mare Urban Dancer, Alex's Vision is a half-brother to the stakes-winning filly La Danseur. Ritchey also bred and trained Urban Dancer, who bankrolled $300,935 in her career while winning four stakes on the mid-Atlantic circuit.
Also on July 3, Afleet Alex sired his fourth 2-year-old winner of the year, Elite Alex, debut maiden special weight winner at Delaware Park. Since June 18, Afleet Alex has sired three first-out maiden special weight winners coast to coast, and a Group stakes colt in Italy. He ranks among the top 15 active Kentucky Juvenile Sires.
