Champion Afleet Alex was a Grade 1-winning juvenile at Saratoga at the beginning of his illustrious racing career. Now the Leading Freshman Sire is producing impressive juvenile winners at the Spa, as on August 30th his filly Afleet Maggi cruised to a 4 ¼-length win in a $55,000 maiden special weight. Afleet Maggi’s win came after Dublin, a colt by Afleet Alex, turned in one of the best maiden wins of Saratoga meet earlier this month.

Afleet Maggi completed 5 ½ furlongs over a ‘good’ local main track in a solid 1:04.86. Bred by Peter Blum from the Coronado’s Quest mare Mindset, the bay filly owns a record of 1-1-1 from four starts under the care of trainer Ken McPeek. She has earned $46,015 for owners Michael and Patricia Freeny, who purchased Afleet Maggi earlier this year for $220,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Select 2-Year-Olds Sale at Calder in February.

Afleet Alex is a top Freshman Sire with progeny earnings exceeding a quarter of a million dollars to date.
