Birdstone colt airs by 14 in MSW

Friday, September 13, 2013 | Birdstone
Mexikoma put on a spectacular display Sept. 12 at Delaware Park as the 2-year-old colt by Birdstone toyed with his opposition to the tune of a 14 3/4-length romp over maiden special weight foes (VIDEO).

Going a mile on the dirt, Mexikoma took over shortly after the half-way point, quickly leaving his competition to turn the race into a one-horse contest. Well in hand for the stretch run, the dark bay or brown juvenile got the distance in 1:37.61.

Bred in Florida by Hickstead Farm, Mexikoma is the first foal out of the Toccet mare Toccet Over, who is a half sister to Aventura S. winner Doctor Decherd.

Mexikoma is one of two maiden special weight winners this week by Birdstone, coming on the heels of a very good month of August for the Gainesway stallion that saw his top 2-year-old colt Conquest Titan dominate the Swynford S. at Woodbine and the 2-year-old filly Thank You Marylou finish a good second in the Grade 2 Adirondack S. at Saratoga.
