Birdstone has top 5 colt at OBS Select sale

Wednesday, March 13, 2013 |
Birdstone had one of the top 5 selling 2-year-olds at the March 12-13 OBS Selected Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale in central Florida, with a winning bid of $475,000 coming from Conquest Stables LLC.

Offered during the second day of the auction, hip No. 331 was consigned by Paul Sharp, agent. The Kentucky bred colt is out of the unraced Mineshaft mare Miner's Secret. She is a half-sister to Woodlander, winner of the Fort Marcy H. (G3) at Aqueduct and Lexington S. (G3) at Belmont Park. The family also includes multimillionaire Twilight Agenda.

The colt had worked 10 seconds flat at last week's under tack preview show, just one tick off the fastest time. A video of the breeze can be seen here.

Birdstone, sire of champions Summer Bird and Mine That Bird, is standing this year at Gainesway for $10,000 LFS&N.
