Birdstone juvenile wins by 17

Bet Your Boots, a 2-year-old colt by Birdstone, romped by 17 lengths in a five-furlong maiden special weight heat at Canterbury Park on June 21st.

The precocious colt stopped the clock in 58.46 seconds over a fast local track and moved his record to 1-1-0 from two starts for trainer Troy Bethke. In his debut in late May, Bet Your Boots flashed a strong turn of foot by making up 13 lengths in the stretch of a 3 ½-furlong maiden special weight race after breaking poorly. Despite the short distance and inexperience that day, Bet Your Boots finished with a rush to be a close runner-up, splashing home in the mud to fall just three-quarters of a length short at the wire.
