Bonboni gives Orientate another 2011 stakes winner

Bonboni made his stakes debut a winning one as the son of Orientate chalked up a half-length victory in the $50,000 Derby Bar and Grill Express S. Sept. 11 at Hastings Park in Canada.

Bonboni, 5, stalked in third for most of the six furlong trip before forging to the lead in the final furlong to finish in 1:09.97, just a half-second off the track record.

Bred in Kentucky by Dr. Steve Conboy, Bonboni is now 9-4-3 in 32 starts, earning $120,300. The dark bay is owned by Rick Hunter. Bonboni is out of Tressa Ann, who is a half-sister to Grade 3 winner Hey Baba Lulu.
