Mariel N Kathy, bred and sold by Gainesway Farm, became Corinthian's latest stakes winner on Oct. 28 at Belmont Park with a 1 1/2-length win in the $85,000 Chelsea Flower S. (VIDEO). With more than $2.1 million in progeny earnings this year, Corinthian is a top-10 Second Crop sire. The Gainesway stallion also has seven stakes horses in 2012.

Mariel N Kathy got the “pocket” trip in third behind a moderate pace of 1:12.28 for six furlongs, set by Martha's Moon. Eased to the outside after passing the quarter pole, the eventual winner began making strides toward the front from that point. The bay filly made the lead just past the eighth pole to draw clear in the late stages. The final time on the firm turf was 1:36.83 for the mile.

Gainesway bred Mariel N Kathy from the unraced Gone West mare Triple Treasure. She is a daughter of Lemhi Gold, winner of the La Prevoyante H. (G2) and Arlington Matron H. (G3).

Mariel N Kathy sold at the 2011 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Summer Yearling sale, bringing $75,000 from Crupi's New Castle Farm. Now owned by MeB Racing Stables LLC and Brooklyn Boyz Stables, Mariel N Kathy is 2-0-0 in four starts. She has earned $99,750.
