Corinthian colt brings $425,000 at Saratoga

A colt from the first crop by Corinthian brought the highest price of any freshman sire at the first session of the Saratoga Selected Sale.

Hip No. 82 sold for $425,000, fourth highest price for any colt during the opening session, and seventh highest price of any yearling Monday evening. The chestnut was consigned by his breeder, Woodford Thoroughbreds, agent for Woodford Foals, and was purchased by Mark Casse, agent. Out of Grade 1 winner/Grade 1 producer La Gueriere, the colt is a half brother to Saratoga Grade 1 winner Icon Project and multiple Graded stakes winner and sire Lasting Approval, as well as the dam of current Grade 1 sprinter Munnings.

Corinthian had four yearlings sell the first night at Saratoga for an average of $228,750, second highest of any freshman sales sire at the Selected Sale. For Monday/Tuesday combined, Corinthian had five yearlings sell for an average price of $205,000.
