Corin Blesse galloped to an easy five-length win Feb. 4 at Tokyo Racecourse to give his sire Corinthian his seventh winner of 2012. Corinthian sits in the third spot on the second-crop sire list, with $100,000 Smarty Jones S. winner Junebugred his leading earner of the new year.
Corin Blesse was the even money favorite as he dominated an overmatched group in the about seven furlong contest. He broke his maiden at a similar distance on Nov. 11. The bay colt, bred in Kentucky by Caroline Stautberg, sold for $250,000 at the 2011 Keeneland 2-year-old in training sale.
Out of Berry Blessed, Corin Blesse to two-time stakes winner Shem. Berry Blessed's siblings include the undefeated 2002 2-year-old champion Vindication, Risen Star S. (G3) winner Scipion, stakes winner In Step, and the multiple graded stakes-placed Blackberry Road.
