Cuvee Uncorked became the latest stakes winner for her hot sire Cuvee when the 3-year-old filly streaked to a 2 ¼-length victory in the $65,000 Poker Night S. on Nov. 1st at Aqueduct. The win moved her record to three wins from four starts.
Cuvee Uncorked stalked the early pace in the seven-furlong Poker Night before hitting the front turning for home and proving best over a local main track listed as ‘good’. The final time was 1:25.27, earning her a career-high 93 Beyer Speed Figure.
Trained by Timothy Walters, the big chestnut filly increased her earnings to $112,200 for owner Fisher Wallace Stable. In her previous start she finished second in a stakes race at Belmont, which came after back-to-back wins at Delaware to start her career.
Bred in Kentucky by Needham-Betz Thoroughbreds, Inc. and Bena Halecky, Cuvee Uncorked is out of the With Approval mare Sealedwithapproval.
Cuvee has four stakes winners in 2009, including three 2-year-old stakes winners. His son Noble’s Promise won the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity and is a leading contender for next week’s $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
