Cuvee, once a brilliant juvenile himself, sired his nation-leading third 2-year-old stakes winner of the year on Sept. 26th when his colt Noble’s Promise ran away with the $100,000 Fitz Dixon, Jr. Memorial Juvenile S. at Presque Isle Downs.
Fresh off a decisive maiden win at Ellis Park, Noble’s Promise stepped straight into stakes company and scored a breakout performance in the Dixon Memorial, drawing off impressively in the stretch of the 11-horse field to win by 3 ¼ lengths. The final time for 6 ½ furlongs was 1:15.87 over the local Tapeta surface.
Ken McPeek trains Noble’s Promise, who ran his record to 2-1-0 from three starts with earnings of $85,500 for owner Chasing Dreams Racing 2008, LLC.
Last weekend, the 2-year-old filly Fairway Road won the $50,000 Bustles and Bows S. at Fairplex Park for Cuvee on Sept. 18th. Earlier this summer, Majestic Vintage, a 2-year-old colt by Cuvee, won the $90,000 TTA Futurity on June 6th.
Cuvee is the co-leading Juvenile Sire of 2009 by stakes winners in North America. His 2-year-olds are responsible for three stakes wins and earnings of $368,923 to date.
