Gainesway-bred Sweet Lulu remains undefeated

Friday, July 26, 2013 |

Sweet Lulu kept her record unblemished on July 24th, with an emphatic victory in the $85,300 feature allowance over a mile at Del Mar. Making her two-turn debut and co-favorite of the crowd, the former TDN Rising Star broke first and never looked back under Julien Leparoux, increasing her margin throughout, and hitting the wire as much the best, 4 3/4 lengths in front. Final time for the mile on the main track was 1:35.99.

Sweet Lulu has now won three straight races at three distances in Southern California, by more than 10 combined lengths. The daughter of Mr. Greeley out of Successful Outlook, by Orientate was sold by Gainesway as a yearling for $270,000. She races now for owner Steve Beneto, and is trained by Jerry Hollendorfer.

Gainesway will offer Sweet Lulu's half-brother, by Tapit, at the Keeneland Yearling Sale, on Wednesday, Sept. 11, Hip 515.
