Gainesway-consigned Tapit colt brings $280K at F-T

Tuesday, July 10, 2012 | Tapit
Gainesway consigned two of the top four sellers at the July 10 Fasig-Tipton yearling sale in central Kentucky, including a $280,000 son of Tapit.

Tapit has been a top five sire the past two years and has a Grade 1 winner from every crop to race. Currently ranked fifth nationally with nearly $4.3 million in progeny earnings, he is one of only four sires to have two Grade 1 winners in 2012.

Consigned by Gainesway agent, as hip No. 299, the dark bay or brown colt was bought by Bradley Thoroughbreds, agent.

The Kentucky bred is the first foal out of the Street Cry (IRE) mare Muir Station. She is a half-sister to Shakis (IRE), who set a course record in the Bernard Baruch H. (G2T) at Saratoga and earned $860,532 in his career.  The family also includes champions Glorious Song, Singspiel, and Devil's Bag.
