Multiple Grade 1 winner Informed Decision, a Gainesway Sales yearling graduate, moved herself back to the top of the filly & mare sprint division heading towards the Breeders’ Cup with an authoritative win in the $400,000 Masters S. (G3) at Presque Isle Downs on Sept. 12th.

Under Julien Leparoux, Informed Decision stalked the early pace before taking command at the top of the stretch of the 6 ½-furlong race, drawing away of her rivals late to hit the wire an impressive and clear winner. The final margin was 2 ½ lengths and the final time was fast – 1:15.10.

Perhaps most notable is the fact that this impressive performance came over the Tapeta surface – Presque Isle’s version of a synthetic track. Informed Decision already owns several impressive performances over synthetic surfaces including a win earlier this year in the Madison S. (G1) at Keeneland at the seven-furlong distance of the $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, which will be run over Santa Anita’s Polytrack in early November.

With the win, Informed Decision also became racing’s newest millionaire, as the powerful gray moved her earnings to $1,081,617 for trainer Jonathan Sheppard and owner Augustin Stable. Informed Decision now owns a stellar record of nine wins from a dozen starts, which includes five graded stakes victories.

A 4-year-old daughter of Monarchos out of the His Majesty mare Palangana, Informed Decision was sold as part of the Gainesway Sales consignment at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky summer yearling sale for $150,000. C. Kidder & N. Cole bred the filly in Kentucky.
