Buddy’s Saint, a Gainesway Sales yearling graduate, became one of the leading 2-year-olds in North America following his second impressive graded stakes victory in New York. The son of the late Saint Liam followed up his break-out win in the Nashua S. (G2) with a victory in the $200,000 Remsen S. on Nov. 28th at Aqueduct.

In the Nashua, Buddy’s Saint burst onto the scene with an emphatic 12-length romp, earning a gaudy 101 Beyer Speed Figure. It marked the bay colt’s first win, as a month earlier his finished first in his debut in a maiden special weight race at Belmont before being disqualified. In Saturday’s Remsen, Buddy’s Saint validated his win in the Nashua by earning back-to-back graded stakes wins at Aqueduct. He stalked the early pace of the 1 1/8-mile event before drawing away in the stretch and proving much the best, hitting the wire on top by 4 ¾ lengths while well in hand. The final time was 1:52.95 over a fast track.

Trained by Bruce Levine, Buddy’s Saint has now earned $218,600 for owner Kingfield Stables, who purchased the horse from Darby Dan for $100,000 at the 2008 Keeneland September Sale. The colt was bred in Kentucky by Roy Gottlieb & Morton Fink from the stakes-winning Blushing John mare Tuzia.
