Windward Islands blew past the loose-on-the-lead pacesetter in deep stretch to win the $300,000 Nijinsky S. (G2) on July 24 at Woodbine, becoming the 10th 2011 stakes winner consigned by Gainesway.

Windward Islands is also the fifth Graded winner of 2011 from Gainesway sales consignments.

Victorious in the Nijinsky S. (G2) in 2010 as well, Windward Islands was both conceived at Gainesway and consigned by Gainesway. By the late Breeders' Cup champion Cozzene and out of Cruisie, by Assert (Ire), he was among our draft of yearlings at the 2005 Keeneland September Sale.

Racing in the famed red and gold colors of Sam-Son Farms, Windward Islands has now won or placed in nine stakes races valued at $125,000 or more, and boasts a lifetime record of 23-6-4-4 and $847,098.

Windward Islands joins other Gainesway-consigned 2011 stakes winners Zazu (G1), Paddy O'Prado (G2), Noble's Promise (G3), S. S. Stone (G3), Artisinal, Blushing Dixie, California Soldier, Victoryasecret, and Wicked Deed. Overall this year, Gainesway consignments have produced 32 stakes horses.
