Gainesway Sales enjoyed some fireworks on Day 2 of the Keeneland January Sale when they sold a special offering – the regally-bred race-filly Bon Jovi Girl – for $950,000 to buyer Denali Stud, agent.
Selling as Hip No. 499, the multiple stakes-winning and Grade 1-placed filly drew the attention of the right buyers to make her the second highest-priced lot so far of the sale. By Malibu Moon, the 4-year-old Bon Jovi Girl is out of the Alydar mare Chipeta Springs, making her a half to the multiple Grade 1-winning millionaire Gio Ponti. The bay filly sold as a racing or broodmare prospect, and she currently owns a record of five wins from 15 starts, including three stakes wins. In her most recent start on Nov. 28 Bon Jovi Girl was third in the Gazelle S. (G1) at Belmont.
