Gainesway to disperse Morrison holdings

Friday, July 27, 2012 |
Gainesway Sales will handle the dispersal of Dolphus Morrison's Thoroughbreds at the 2011 Keeneland November breeding stock sale that runs Nov. 6-16. The group of 22 horses includes Samantha Nicole, a yearling full sister to 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra.

Morrison, who bred Rachel Alexandra, stated that he felt the time was right to disperse his holdings. His long-time trainer Hal Wiggins, who conditioned Rachel Alexandra when she won the Kentucky Oaks (G1) by a record 20 lengths, retired in late 2009.

The dispersal includes Samantha Nicole, a yearling full sister to Rachel Alexandra; Abbott Hall, winner of the $150,000 Happy Ticket S.; Lotta Rhythm, a winner of the Pocahontas S. who is a half sister to the dam of Rachel Alexandra, and the stakes-placed 2-year-old Shesakitty.
