Gainesway Sales will offer the racing/broodmare prospect Bon Jovi Girl as Hip No. 499 at Keeneland January. The 4-year-old filly – a multiple stakes winner of $512,443 and half-sister to four-time Grade 1 winner Gio Ponti – will be offered as Hip No. 499.
Bon Jovi Girl was a leading 2-year-old and 3-year-old filly on the East coast the past couple of seasons under the care of trainer Tim Ritchey. The dark bay filly won the $75,000 Blue Hen S. and $100,000 Fairway S. at Delaware Park by a combined 15 ¾ lengths last year at two, and she returned in 2009 to win twice including a dazzling eight-length victory in the $125,000 Susan’s Girl S. where she earned a 103 Beyer Speed Figure. Bon Jovi Girl also placed in the Gazelle S. (G1), Black Eyed Susan S. (G2) and Honeybee S. (G3) this year.
By Malibu Moon out of the Alydar mare Chipeta Springs, Bon Jovi Girl hails from a fashionable and high-class family. Her stakes-winning siblings include Fisher Pond ($251,490) and the aforementioned Gio Ponti ($3,153,800), a leading contender for next month’s Eclipse Turf Male honors after a tremendous 2009 campaign that included four Grade 1 victories and a strong runner-up performance in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1).
Bon Jovi Girl remains in training and is nominated to the Pippin S. to be run on Jan. 23rd at Oaklawn Park.
