Hat Trick 2YO zips to MdSpWt victory for Andre Fabre

Friday, June 08, 2012 |

Making his second career start for trainer Andre Fabre, the bay colt out of multiple Group winner Zinziberine took the lead with an eighth of a mile to go in the 5 1/2-furlong event, and hung tough for the 3/4-length score. Zenji ran third in his April 24 debut behind yesterday's Prix La Fleche-third To My Valentine.

Named for a hotel in Zanzibar, Zenji is a half brother to French Group-winning juvenile Zanzibari and to last-year's Prix du Pont-Neuf winner Zelimar. Bred in Kentucky by Ecurie Peregrine SAS, he races for Mrs. Andre Fabre.

Hat Trick sired European Champion Dabirsim and three other stakes horses in his first crop. He was booked full in 2012, his first season at Gainesway.
