Howe Great delivered a sharp, front-running 1 1/2-length score on the grass at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 15, giving his sire Hat Trick his eighth winner from his first crop. The Japanese-bred stallion recently joined the Gainesway roster and will begin his stud career at the farm in 2012.
Hat Trick currently ranks third on the freshman sire list, and is the sire of this year's European 2-year-old champion colt, the two-time Group 1 winner and undefeated Dabirsim (FR).
Howe Great controlled the pace throughout the 1 1/16 mile contest on the Gulfstream lawn to give the dark bay colt his second win in three starts. He has now earned $61,500 for owner/breeder Barry Irwin.
