Bright Thought, a 4-year old colt by Hat Trick, scored a runaway 5 ¼-length victory in a $58,000 allowance race over the Santa Anita turf course Thursday, giving him back-to-back impressive wins at the historic track.
The dark bay colt commanded the lead from the start and never looked back, covering the 1 ¼-mile distance in 1:57.86 and earning a solid 92 Beyer Speed Figure under jockey Rafael Bejarano. Just 18 days prior, Bright Thought captured the $40,000 Super Bowl Party Starter H. at Santa Anita with a 2 ¼-length front-running score. He's now likely to be pointed to the San Louis Rey (G2) or San Juan Capistrano (G2) for his graded stakes debut.
Another talented colt from the first crop of Hat Trick, 2011 Cartier Award winner Dabirsim (Fr), is reported back in training and doing very well according to trainer Christophe Ferland. The Champion European Juvenile is being pointed to the Prix Edmond Blanc (G3) on April 9th at Saint Cloud.
Hat Trick is standing for $15,000 for the 2013 breeding season.
