Zenji, a 2-year-old by Hat Trick, became the newest winner for his sire with a victory in Saturday's Prix Roland de Chambure S. on the first day of the prestigious Longchamp meet of the Grand Prix de Paris. Zenji's win highlighted a big day for his sire, with first-time starter Fire Tricks also breaking her maiden at Arlington Park

Zenji tallied a two-length victory in the seven furlong turf course, drawing off in the final furlong to get the distance in 1:24.41 over a “soft” surface. The winner is now two-for-three lifetime; he broke his maiden in his previous start on June 8 at Maisons-Laffitte.

Trained by Andre Fabre, the French family homebred is out of the multiple graded stakes winning mare Zenziberine, who also produced the French Group stakes winner Zanzibari.

At Arlington, Fire Tricks was 1 1/4-length winner in a six furlong Polytrack contest. The dark bay filly is owned by her breeder Meryl J Squires-Cannon.
