Champion and dual Classic winner Afleet Alex received his first winner when his 2-year-old colt Kratisto showed professionalism with a late rally in the stretch to win a $38,000 maiden special weight heat at Delaware Park July 28.

The gray colt rallied past half of the nine-horse field in the stretch of the 5 ½-furlong race to get his head in front on the wire, stopping the clock in 1:05.80 over a fast local main track.

Kratisto earned $22,800 for the win for owner Linda Harding, who purchased him as a yearling for $130,000 from Gainesway, agent. The colt is out of the stakes-winning Risen Star mare Torch and is a half to stakes winner Morine’s Victory. Gainesway bred Kratisto in Kentucky.

A Grade 1-winning juvenile on the track, Afleet Alex is represented this year by 138 2-year-olds from his debut crop.
