Champion Informed Decision won her 11th career stakes and kept her record at Presque Isle Downs perfect, with a well-earned victory in the $400,000 Masters S. (G3) on Sept. 11.
The Gainesway sales grad stumbled leaving the gate and found herself the last of 11 down the backstretch after a quarter-mile in 22 seconds flat. Still second to last on the turn, Informed Decision came flying in the stretch while eight wide to run down Dubai Majesty and win by a head in 1:15.62, three-fifths of a second off the track record, on Tapeta.
The gray/roan mare out of the His Majesty mare Palangana was bred in Kentucky by Dr.'s Chuck Kidder and Nancy Cole, and sold by Gainesway at the 2006 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky July Sale for $150,000.
The victory was the eighth in a Graded stakes for the champion mare, and marked the second year in a row that she has won the 6 1/2-furlong Masters. Informed Decision is three-for-three at Presque Isle, and 10-of-11 lifetime on synthetic surfaces.
The Masters win made Informed Decision a multimillionaire, with earnings of $2,194,426 and a stellar record of 14 victories from 20 starts.
Trained by Jonathan Sheppard for Augustin Stable, the 5-year-old daughter of Monarchos has won Graded stakes every year she's raced, including three Grade 1 scores. She capped off her 2009 season with a victory in the Sentient Jet Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) at Santa Anita, helping to wrap up the female sprint championship.
Informed Decision is one of 19 stakes winners this year consigned by Gainesway.
