Junebugred jumps up in Aqueduct maiden

Gainesway-bred Junebugred battled to a well-earned one-length maiden win Nov. 26 at Aqueduct. The victor is winner number 16 for his sire Corinthian, who ranks fourth on the first-crop sire list.

Junebugred dueled with a pair of competitors while three-wide for most of the way in the one mile contest. The chestnut colt wrested the lead in the final furlong to wind under hand urging.

The winner is owned by Alex and JoAnn Lieblong, who bought the colt from the Gainesway consignment at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale. Junebugred has five siblings, all winners, including Joe Six Pack, who won nearly $400,000, topped by the Jean Lafitte S. and Minstrel S.
