Aruna won the Grade 2 Mrs. Revere over the Churchill Downs lawn on Nov. 20, running the record of the 3-year-old daughter of Mr. Greeley to a perfect 3-for-3 in the United States since shipping from Europe this past summer.

The $200,000 Mrs. Revere was the first graded stakes win for Aruna. She was fifth in the field of ten after a half-mile in :49.49 seconds. Despite a slow six furlongs in 1:15.33 while going five wide around the far turn, she was gaining ground on the leaders. The dark bay/brown filly made the front at the furlong marker, and pulled clear to win by 1 3/4-lengths in 1:46.02 for the nine furlongs. The 92 Beyer Speed Figure is a career-best.

“I was impressed with her today because she was just so much sharper earlier,” said trainer Graham Motion, “She’s been very relaxed in her races and I just thought (jockey) Ramon (Dominguez) did a great job to keep her settled long enough so that when he did finally turn her loose, she had plenty left.”

Dominguez has ridden her in all three U.S. races. “She has been doing everything right,” Dominguez said afterward. “I was happy to see that she was sharp today. She put herself in the race earlier than usual. When it’s time to pick it up, she is always there for you. She’s pretty classy. I don’t know how good she can be. Everything she has faced and every scenario she has faced she has been great.”

Prior to coming to the States, Aruna was facing the likes of Sarafina in Group races in France. She won her stateside debut in a turf allowance at Saratoga on Sept. 6, then came back to cruise to a three-length win in the Pebbles S. at Belmont on Oct. 11.

Bred and owned by Flaxman Holdings in Kentucky, Aruna is now 4-1-1 in eight starts. The $117,610 Mrs. Revere payday raised her total earnings to $256,842.

Mr. Greeley now has seven stakes winners in 2010, and ten stakes horses overall. In a tribute to his offsprings' consistency, eight of the ten have hit the board at least twice in black type events. The Gainesway stallion has 106 career stakes horses.
