Making her stakes debut, Patriotic Viva acted like a veritable diva, leading every step of the way in the $100,000 Serena’s Song Stakes at Monmouth on July 17.
The 3-year-old daughter of Whywhywhy broke her maiden earlier this year at Gulfstream, and was making her two-turn debut in the 1 mile, 40 yard added-money event on the Jersey shore. Rider Joe Bravo was most admiring in his post-race comments: “I don’t even know what to say; the gates opened and it was over. All I had to do was hold on.”
Patriotic Viva was bred in Kentucky, and races for her breeder, Kin Hui. Trained by Patrick Biancone, she has compiled a record of 5-2-2-0 and $108,880, all this season.
Patriotic Viva is expected to make her next racetrack appearance in the Monmouth Oaks-G3 on August 14.
Whywhywhy also sired two more two-year-old winners July 16-17, and has four juvenile winners on the year. His lifetime progeny earnings now exceed $5,700,000.
