Nile Runner leads Corinthian maiden exacta

Top-6 freshman sire Corinthian got his tenth winner of the year Oct. 30 at Parx Racing when Nile Runner came on late for a 1 1/2-length victory over Allthewayyeah, another son of Corinthian who was 5 1/2-lengths clear of the third place finisher.

Nile Runner earned $27,000 for the victory. The Nick Zito trainee was bred in Kentucky by the William Carl Estate. The bay colt was purchase by his owner Richard Pell for $100,000 at the 2010 Keeneland September yearling sale.

Nile Runner is out of the top-class broodmare Golden Tiy. She has produced nine winners to date, including the multiple graded stakes winner Sapphire n'Silk and Grade 3 winner Golden Itiz.

Corinthian's offspring have earned in excess of $500,000 in 2011, led by Hunt Crossing, who took the $132,612 Monmouth Park NATC Futurity S.
