Unleashing a powerful turn of foot, Orientate’s 3-year-old daughter Great Hot (Brz) strode to an authoritative 2 3/4-length victory under a hand ride at Santa Anita on March 27.

The dark bay 3-year-old out of the Seeking The Gold mare That’s Hot, was making her U.S. debut in the $58,608 main track allowance, having won her only other start by 3 1/2 lengths last October in Brazil.

Second choice of the crowd, Great Hot bided her time near the back of the pack through blazing fractions of :21.33 and :43.94, then made her move 4-wide coming into the stretch. Great Hot collared the pace-setter with less than a furlong to go, and drew off with authority to win by 2 3/4 lengths.

Bred in Brazil by her owner, Coudelaria Jessica, Great Hot is trained by A.C. Avila, and was ridden to victory by Omar Berrio.

Great Hot was one of two Santa Anita winners on March 27 for Orientate, who ranks among the top 10 Kentucky sires of winners this year. For the past three years, Orientate has posted annual progeny earnings annual of more than $5,000,000. Through the first 11 weeks of 2011, Orientate has sired 49 winners and over $1.5 million worldwide.
