Gainesway sales grad Paddy O'Prado has emerged as one of America's most versatile 3-year-olds, following his second graded stakes score of the year in the $500,000 Colonial Turf Cup (G2) on June 19.

Paddy O'Prado is among just a handful of runners to earn Graded stakes blacktype on all three racing surfaces. He broke his maiden in the Palm Beach S. (G3) on grass at Gulfstream Park, then ran second on Polytrack in the Blue Grass S. (G1) at Keeneland, and a strong third over the dirt in the Kentucky Derby (G1) at Churchill Downs.

Paddy O'Prado is one of 29 current stakes horses consigned by Gainesway, and one of five over the June 19-20 weekend, joining Pegasus S. (G3) winner Afleet Express, Royal Ascot juvenile stakes winner Zaidan, and stakes runners-up Blue Haze Day (by Birdstone) and Chihulykee (by Mr. Greeley).

In the Turf Cup, Paddy O'Prado stalked in fourth for the first six furlongs. Jockey Kent Desormeaux made his move outside the quarter mile grounds, going three wide to make the lead in early stretch, and quickly pulled clear of the field, finishing the 1 3/16-miles in 1:54.20 to earn a 99 Beyer Speed Figure.

Gainesway consigned the gray or roan son of Champion sire El Prado to the 2008 Keeneland September yearling sale, where he sold for $105,000. Paddy O'Prado is out of the Grade 2-winning mare Fun House, and his record now stands at 9-2-2-3 and $758,497 for owner Donegal Racing.

According to trainer Dale Romans, Paddy O'Prado will remain on the grass and be pointed toward Colonial's Grade 2 Virginia Derby on July 17 and Arlington's Grade 1 Secretariat S. on Aug. 21.
