Remit is looking like a filly with a big future after the 3-year-old daughter of Tapit scored her third straight victory, and first stakes win, in the $60,000 Panthers S. at Prairie Meadows on June 5.

Tapit, who finished ranked third on the 2009 second-crop sire list, is having another solid showing in 2010. He is fifth on the third-crop sire list, with $1.8 million in progeny earnings. Remit is his 10th stakes horse of the year.

Remit shipped to Prairie Meadows from her Churchill Downs base of trainer Steve Asmussen. She broke her maiden at the Louisville oval last November, then won an allowance race there on May 8. In the one-mile Panthers, which was run over a sloppy main track, Remit went off as the 4-5 favorite. She was some nine lengths back after a half-mile, but began to steadily make up ground, and in a prolonged drive, got up to win by a hard-earned neck.

The chestnut filly is now 3-1-0 in four starts, with earnings of $102,670. She is owned by her breeder Winchell Thoroughbreds, who also campaigned her sire. She is also a full sister to 4-year-old Retap, a two-time stakes winner who has bankrolled nearly $200,000.
