Gainesway Sales was represented by its third Group/Grade 1 winner of the year, when Jimmy Creed powered to victory in the $300,000 Malibu Stakes on December 26 at Santa Anita. [VIDEO]

In winning his inaugural Grade 1, Jimmy Creed sped the fifth fastest Malibu in 61 runnings, 1:20.36 for seven furlongs, just .36 off the time run by Hall of Fame Champion Spectacular Bid.

Gainesway sold Jimmy Creed for $900,000 on behalf of Stonestreet Thoroughbred Holdings at the Keeneland September Sale. Racing in the colors of B. Wayne Hughes, the 3-year-old has now run 1-2-3 in six of his seven career starts, with a Grade 1 win, a close second in a $100,000 stakes, and a Grade 1 third against older horses to his credit.

In the Malibu, Jimmy Creed tracked the pace along the rail under Garrett Gomez, sitting chilly behind fractions of :22.74, :44.77, and 1:08.27. Turned loose at the head of the lane, Jimmy Creed flashed his exceptional turn of foot, and powered to victory in what track announcer Trevor Denman called a "scintillating performance."

Jimmy Creed is one of 20 stakes winners, six Graded winners, three Grade 1 winners for Gainesway Sales in 2012. Jimmy Creed joins Hong Kong G1 winner Zaidan and Eclipse Award Champion and multiple G1 winner My Miss Aurelia as 2012 Group/Grade 1 winners sold by Gainesway. No other yearling consignor has sold more Group/Grade 1 winners of this year.
