Smoke It Right proved he was named right, blazing to a new track record in his career debut. The two-year-old son of Smoke Glacken broke first from the 9-hole in the maiden special event at Evangeline Downs, but immediately seized the lead. Speeding fractions of :22.26 and :45.19, he widenend his advantage at every call, drawing off to a 12 1/2 length victory at the wire. Final time of :51.49 broke the track record, which was set 10 years ago.
Bred in Kentucky by Gainesway Farm, Robert Losey, & Laura McKinney, Smoke It Right is out of the Alphabet Soup mare Bride in the Wings, and now races for Rand Metoyer and trainer Bernard Chatters.
Smoke Glacken continues his hot hand with this juvenile crop, siring his 3rd winner from 4 starters, one of the best percentages in the nation.
