Smoke Glacken filly wins stakes debut

Sunday, May 20, 2012 | Smoke Glacken
Praire Cougar pulled away in the stretch for a three-length victory in the $67,641 Bob Bryant S. May 19 at Prairie Meadows to become the latest stakes winner for Smoke Glacken (VIDEO). His leading earner of 2012, Grade 3 Honeybee S. winner On Fire Baby, is likely to run in graded stake in either Kentucky, New York or Chicago for her next start.

Prarie Cougar figured prominently from the break in the six furlong Bob Bryant. She battled in a three-way duel for the first half-mile, which went in a quick :44.82 seconds, before digging in to draw away in the final furlong. The dark bay filly stopped the timer in 1:11.02 on the fast track.

With the victory, Praire Cougar is now 3-2-0 in seven starts, with earnings of $100,776 for her owner Prairie Mountain Stable.
