Tapit sired the third highest-priced yearling during the second day of the Keeneland September sale, when a filly consigned by Gainesway, agent, went for $725,000. The filly brought the top price for her sire thus far at the auction. Tapit had nine yearlings sell in Book 1 for an average price of $351,111, considerably out-pacing the overall sale average of $328,065.
Monday's star seller was Hip 140, a chestnut filly purchased by Ben Leon's Besilu Stables, who has been the top buyer of the first two days. The filly is the first foal out of Zealous Cat, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner Pohave. Her third dam is Eclipse champion Track Robbery, granddam of Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Cat Thief.
