Led by two Graded stakes winners on April 10th, Tapit forged into first place on the 2011 General Sires List.

The two-time Champion Sire now has progeny earnings in excess of $2,000,000 for the young season, including five stakes winners and four Graded stakes winners. No other North American stallion has more Graded winners.

Tapit’s weekend success was sparked by Joyful Victory’s second straight Graded win in the $285,000 Fantasy S. (G2) at Oaklawn, and Testa Matta’s first Graded victory in The March S. (G3) at Hanshin Racecourse, in Japan. Previously winner of the Japan Dirt Derby, four-year-old Testa Matta boosted his earnings to $2,060,777, off a record of 16-5-1-3. Three-year-old Joyful Victory brought her record to 5-3-0-1 and $380,100.

Tapit has now sired 50 stakes horses, 28 stakes winners, and earners of $19 million from his first three crops to race.  He has three fillies pointed to the $1,000,000 Kentucky Oaks (G1) at Churchill Downs including: Zazu (G1), Joyful Victory (G2) and Dancinginherdreams (G2).

Tapit is expected to cover some 150 mares in 2011 and is Booked Full. He stands for $80,000 live foal, payable when foal stands and nurses.
