Panivino, a 3-year-old son of Tapit, became the fifth Group/Grade 1 winner for his sire when he defeated older horses in Venezuela’s premier sprint, the Premio de los Sprinters (G1).

The Kentucky-bred scored a 2 ¼-length victory in the six-furlong event held on the dirt at Rinconada Racecourse August 29. A late May foal, the chestnut out of Regal Talk by Talkin Man was sold by Lane’s End, agent, at the Keeneland November and Keeneland September Sales.

Tapit has now sired Grade 1 winners in each of his first three crops: Stardom Bound, Careless Jewel, Laragh, Panivino, and Tell a Kelly. The Champion Freshman Sire and Champion Juvenile Sire in 2008, Tapit leads all sires in his outstanding crop by stakes winners (25), Graded stakes winners (10), and Grade 1 winners.
