Hightap, by Tapit, exuded her class and captured her second consecutive graded stakes victory on June 26th, winning the $200,000 Iowa Oaks S. (G3) by three-parts of a length over Sweet Relish, giving Tapit his ninth graded stakes win from his first crop of runners.

Ridden by Shaun Bridgmohan, Hightap broke well and was forced to settle wide as the field jumbled up after an average opening quarter-mile in 23.83 seconds. Heading into the stretch, Hightap made a three-wide bid to get into striking range, and the gray Tapit filly took command and proved best in the stretch, stopping the clock in 1:44 flat for 1 1/16 miles over a fast track. Sweet Relish, a stakes-winning Smoke Glacken filly, completed the exacta after proving second best with a nice late rally on the far outside.

Hightap, who is conditioned by Steve Asmussen, earned $120,000 for the win to move her earnings to $246,365 for owners Winchell Thoroughbreds LLC and Gainesway Thoroughbreds Ltd. In her last start, Hightap won the $100,000 Dogwood S. (G3) at Churchill Downs.

Bred by Springland Farm, Hightap, a 3-year-old, hails from the Regal Classic mare Don'tellmichelle, who is back in foal to Tapit and has a colt from the first crop of Corinthian at her side.
