No stallion had more winners than Tapit on he Nov. 27 Churchill Downs' “Stars of Tomorrow” card, which exclusively featured 2-year-olds in all 12 races. The day got off to a quick start for the Gainesway stallion when the filly Switching Gears won the first race by a facile 5 1/4-lengths. In a field of 11 maiden fillies going seven furlongs, Switching Gears was always in a good spot, stalking in fourth before taking over in upper stretch to draw off in the final furlong. She completed the course in 1:24.44.

Bred in Kentucky by Ashleigh Stud Farm and Frank and Jackie Ramos, Switching Gears was bought for $150,000 by her owners Thoroughbred Futures Racing II at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton February select sale.

In race 5, a six furlong main track allowance, Winchill showed his toughness by dueling for the first five furlongs to dig out a one-length victory in 1:10.83. The bay colt has now won two of four starts, earning $44,232.

Winchill was bred in Pennsylvania by Gum Tree Stables. He is owned by Heiligbrodt Racing Stable.

The Churchill card also closed out with a maiden winner by Tapit. Tapizar left little doubt who was the best in the 1 1/16 mile maiden race as he drew off to win by 10 1/2-lengths in 1:44.19 and registering an excellent Beyer Speed Figure of 89.

Tapizar is owned and bred by Winchell Thoroughbreds, who also campaign the sire. The colt has four siblings that are all winners.
