Undefeated Bandbox drew off to a 9 1/2-length triumph in the $100,000 Charles Town Juvenile, to become the third 2-year-old stakes winner for Tapit this year. The Gainesway stallion is far and away the nation's leading sire of two-year-olds.

Bandbox did not get the best of starts in the Juvenile, but the gray or roan colt quickly got into stride and made the lead after four furlongs. From that point forward, it was just a matter of by how much jockey Eric Camacho wanted to win. The final time for the seven furlongs was 1:25.60.

The new stakes winner is now 2-for-2 lifetime, having broken his maiden at Laurel on August 8. He has earned $73,680 for Hillwood Stable LLC, who purchased him at the 2009 Fasig-Tipton Timonium October sale. The colt was bred in New York by New Dawn Thoroughbreds and Aron Yagoda.

Tapit also sired his 15th and 16th juvenile winners of the year on September 18, Silent Tap in the U.S. and Baptist in England. Tapit leads all juvenile sires in the nation by earnings, more than $150,000 ahead of the second-place stallion. The two-time Champion Sire ranks #15 overall in North America, with 20 stakes horses and well over $5,200,000 in worldwide earnings.
