Bandbox won his third career stakes with a 1 1/2-length win in the Private Terms S. at Laurel Park on March 19 (

Tapit is the nation's leading sire in terms of earnings and graded stakes winners. The list is led by Zazu, winner of the Grade 1 Las Virgenes and likely to make her next start in the May 6 Kentucky Oaks. (G1).
Bandbox was never far off the lead in the one mile Private Terms. His rider Travis Dunkelberger sat second for the first six furlongs, then asked the gray or roan colt for his run while three wide in the stretch. Forging to the lead at the furlong marker, he went on to finish in 1:37.25 and earning a 91 Beyer Speed Figure.
Trained by Rodney Jenkins for Ellen Charles' Hillwood Stable, Bandbox's record stands at 4-1-0 in six starts, with earnings of $183,680. Charles purchased Bandbox in 2009 at the Fasig-Tipton October select yearling sale. He was bred in New York by New Dawn Thoroughbreds and Aron Yagoda.
Though he's nominated to the Triple Crown, Bandbox's future plans may not include a trip to Churchill Downs, Jenkins said afterward. “She’s (Ms. Charles) the best owner in the whole world. It’s great for her to have a horse like this. We’re not going to rule the Preakness (G1) out. The horse is doing good. We might give it a shot. We don’t know where we’re going next. I’ll discuss it with her.”
