Tapitsfly, winner of the 2009 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf, bested a top-class field at Gulfstream Park on April 2. The 4-year-old daughter of Tapit took the field from gate-to-wire over the 1 1/16 miles on the turf course.
Tapit is the nation's third-ranked sire with just over $1.8 million in progeny earnings. He already has 11 stakes performers in 2011, led by the Grade 1-winning 3-year-old filly Zazu.
Tapitsfly was bred in Kentucky by her owner Frank L. Jones. Prior to her win in the Breeders' Cup, Tapitsfly won the P. G. Johnson S. on the Saratoga turf and was second in the Ms. Grillo S., also on the grass, at Belmont Park. She has earned $707, 292, with a record of 4-3-1 in 10 lifetime starts.
