Tidal Volume, a 5-year-old son of Tapit, rolled to his fourth straight win in the $50,000 Temperence Hill S. at Louisiana Downs on Sept. 10. The winning streak started back back in June at Churchill Downs, and continued on with allowance wins at Indiana Downs and Hoosier Park.
Going to the front soon after the break, Tidal Volume was up 2 1/2-lengths after a quarter mile. He maintained that lead around the turn, then accelerated away in the stretch and was geared down late to win by 1 3/4-lengths. The final time for the six furlongs on the fast track was 1:10.24.
Tidal Volume is trained by Tom Amoss for Robin Murphy; the gray/roan was bred in Kentucky by Barry and Carol Conrad. With the win, Tidal Volume is now 5-0-0 in eight starts, earning $116,956.
Tapit ranks third on the North American general sire list with progeny earnings in excess of $5.8 million. His 11 stakes winners include Las Virgenes S. (G1) champ Zazu and Grade 2 winners Trappe Shot (True North H.) and Joyful Victory (Fantasy S.).
